Reading Landscapes Video Series
The first video in the series: following watersheds

Ever since I picked up Tom Wessels’ book ‘Forest Forensics,’ I have been looking at landscapes quite differently. The book was a really good complement to the knowledge I gained from my permaculture course in terms of how to apply reading landscapes.

As a part of a new video series on the Last Ditch YouTube channel about reading landscapes, I made an introductory video on following watersheds. I’m hoping to continue the series and look at different aspects of reading land and developing tools of observation. I still find permaculture to be inundated with interesting but kind of piecemeal analysis that is full of an excited energy but often lacking context.

In service of developing our skills to understand context, I highly recommend checking out some videos of Tom explaining reading forested landscapes if you’re interested:

And if you’re a real water nerd, I made this playlist of the best videos around all about water and irrigation.
